Quilcene Fire Rescue is seeking a dedicated, community-minded, and highly skilled professional to serve as a Full-Time Career Firefighter / Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

This recruitment process is being initiated strictly to fill an upcoming vacancy created by an operational crew member who will be vacating their position at the end of October 2026. This process is a direct position replacement to maintain our mandatory baseline emergency response staffing levels; it does not represent an expansion of department headcount, nor does it add any new taxpayer-funded positions to the District budget.

This critical shift position performs a complete range of technical, skilled firefighting and emergency medical services (EMS) as part of a dedicated duty crew. The successful candidate will provide fire suppression, pre-hospital BLS-level EMS, and rescue response for a progressive fire and EMS agency serving the Quilcene and Coyle communities.

Compensation & Benefits

• 2026 Base Salary: $5,352 – $5,633 / Month
• 2027 Base Salary: $5,566 – $5,859 / Month (Reflects a guaranteed 4% contractual minimum increase)
• Certification Premium: +2% Monthly Premium for valid IV Tech Certification.
• Work Schedule: Desirable 48/96 Shift Schedule.
• Labor Representation: Covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Key Responsibilities

• Emergency Response: Execute structural/wildland suppression, rescue operations, and hazardous materials response.
• Medical Care: Deliver high-quality pre-hospital emergency medical care and transport at the EMT level or higher.
• Readiness & Stewardship: Conduct daily cleaning, servicing, and testing of apparatus, district facilities, and rescue gear to maintain baseline readiness.
• Program Management: Efficiently oversee assigned administrative projects or program areas within established resource limits.
• Community Relations: Deliver impactful fire prevention presentations to local schools and civic groups; host public station tours.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Medical: Valid Washington State EMT provider certification at minimum.
• Fire Certifications: IFSAC Firefighter I certification.
• Core Compliance (To be completed within 1 year of appointment): NWCG Firefighter II (Red Card), NIMS IS-700, IS-800, ICS 100, and ICS 200.
• Driver Status: Valid WA Driver's License with an insurable driving record; timely completion of EVIP & the District's Driver/Operator program.

 Preferred Qualifications:

• Washington State EMT-IV Tech Certification
• IFSAC Firefighter II or Instructor I
• EVIP Student Trainer
• NWCG S-215 Fire Operations in the Urban Interface
