Public Records Requests

The Fire Chief and the District Secretary are responsible for managing and maintaining the District’s official records.  In accordance with Washington's Public Records Act, Chapter 42.56 RCW, the Board of Fire Commissioners has appointed District Secretary Robert Rewitzer as the Public Records Officer. The Public Records Officer serves as the point of contact for members of the public in requesting disclosure of public records and oversees the District's compliance with public records disclosure requirements.

Preferrably, requests for public records should be made to the District Secretary by email with a completed Public Records Request Form attached. Request forms may also be mailed. Do not fax requests; requests sent by fax will not be received. Requests delivered orally to anyone other than the Public Records Officer will not be accepted as a valid public records request. Disclosure of protected healthcare information and/or Patient Care Reports requires a completed and signed Medical Release Form.

Public records requests will be responded to promptly - often the same day received. Fees for copying or scanning public records may be collected pursuant to the Public Records Act. Records will be available for inspection during business hours, at a date and time mutually agreed upon by the requester and the District Secretary.

Denials of Public Records Requests will include a statement of the specific exemption authorizing the withholding of the record and a brief explanation of how the exemption applies to the record withheld.

You may obtain a Public Records Request Form at the District’s administrative office, 61 Herbert St., Quilcene, WA. The form may also be downloaded and printed by selecting the below link. Completed forms should be emailed to districtsecretary@qfr2.org or mailed to:
