BURN RESTRICTIONS
FIRE DANGER UPDATE - Effective June 1, 2025
Jefferson County will move to MODERATE fire danger, one month earlier than usual due to changing weather and field conditions. This decision is supported by the Jefferson County Fire Marshal, local Fire Chiefs, including Quilcene Fire Rescue, and state and federal partners.
In summary, recreational burning or “campfires” are allowed in a MODERATE fire danger risk level and all barbeque appliances are allowed. However, brush and debris “land clearing fires” are restricted until a Low fire danger risk level is established.
Campfires and BBQs are allowed:
- On private residential premises or designated campsites
- In a permanent barbecue, portable barbecue, outdoor fireplace, or grill
- Combustible material 1.5 feet around the portable fireplace, pit, or chiminea must be removed
- Only natural wood materials may be burned
- Fuel shall not extend outside the portable fireplace, pit, or chiminea
Brush and debris burining is NOT allowed
No burning of yard waste, land-clearing materials, or other outdoor burn piles
This precaution helps protect our community, first responders, and property as we head into fire season. These restrictions will stay in place until further notice and be reassessed as conditions evolve. Please do your part, burn responsibly and help prevent wildfires.
